Training workshop on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)

FNCCI-Employers' Council in cooperation with ILO Office Nepal organized five training workshops on "Occupational Safety and Health" in Nepalgunj, Biratnagar, Birgunj and Butwal on November 20-21, December 8-9, 8-11, 11-12 respectively.
The objectives of the training workshop were to
-
make the participants capable of identifying and assessing the risks prevalent in the workplace.

make the participants capable of improving the workplace through the application of suitable hazards prevention measures.

develop the capability of participants to find out the OSH related problems in the workplaces of thier respective organization and
-
enable the participants to relate occupational safety and health with productivity
In the sessions, the training workshop covered important issues relating to industrial accidents, chemical hazards, physical hazards, hazard control principle, psychological hazards, ergonomics and emergency preparedness system. The participants of Biratnagar also visited United Spirit Pvt. industries for "on the spot observation" of OSH conditions and measures adopted in the industry.
The trainers for the programs were Mr. Hansa Ram Pandey, Director, FNCCI, Mr. Manoj Kr. Yadav, Factory Inspector of Nepalgunj, Mr. Youb Raj Bhatta, OSH expert, Mr. Radheshyam Jha, Factory Inspector of Butwal, Dinesh Kr. Sah, OSH expert and Raj Kumar Gupta, Factory Inspector of Birgunj. The workshops were organized by FNCCI-EC in collaboration with Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Industries, Morang, Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
